Boutique Hotels

Boutique Hotels are popping up rapidly among urban cities and making a statement in the hotel industry. They are often designed with a theme/stylish manner that reflects the location it is in, giving them a very personal touch where visitors are made to feel part of the experience rather than just a passive consumer. Shaping the identity of an up-and-coming area is key to creating a successful boutique hotel and I love the fun, uniqueness of them! They are one of a kind gems! My goal in the next five years is to design boutique hotels and I love to gain inspiration from the ones popping up around the globe!

The Graduate Hotel is a wonderful example that I stayed in last year in Charlottesville, Virginia! The design takes you back to the glory days of college with an added twist of luxury. It is so fun and ties together so many unique patterns and textures you can't help but smile when you're in their spaces!

The Meridian is an Urbanica Hotel that just opened this year in Miami, Florida. The style is urban, contemporary and artsy, drawing from local craftsmanship and creativity. I absolutely LOVE the welcome desk made of vintage luggage and the walls painted by a local artist to incorporate Miami's Wynwood Art District.

Another beautiful example is the Barbuda Belle which combines luxurious beach bungalow get-away with fun boutique-style flair! The spaces feel very romantic, warm and natural, making you feel at home yet holding all of the qualities to ensure relaxation and rest. I love this combination of natural materials and warm, dramatic lighting.

Marble Accents

A little piece of information about me: I LOVE marble! It is glamorous, elegant, and oh so beautiful. Now unfortunately we can't all have an entire wall of marble in our homes (may or may not be an ultimate dream of mine); however, we absolutely can add some of that luxury in small doses! Marble accent pieces were a major trend in 2016 and are continuing into 2017; they were huge at the 2016 NY NOW showcase. Marble adds so much sophistication to a space and each piece has its own unique colors and veining.

As if the beauty doesn't sell itself enough, it's great on your wallet too! Using the stone in small touches rather than entire counter tops or bathtubs gives the same effect, but at a much lower cost.

These are some pieces we are currently loving and using in a couple of our projects!

Girls Rule, Boys Drool!

In one of our current projects we are taking on the task of designing two little girls rooms! We have been having so much fun with this part of the project, because it is not often that we get the opportunity to design spaces for kids. As a team we have been gathering lots of inspiration for our designs and we couldn't be more excited to put it all together and show the girls their new bedrooms! Take a look at some of the designs that we love and inspired us, and maybe you'll gain a little inspiration yourself.
